Step-by-step Explanation
Once logged into your website's back end you'll have a few similar to the picture below. On the left-hand side, you have your menu, here you have a few options
but the most important menu items to understand is
1) Plugins
2) Appearance ( Theme's and menu's )
3) Products
4) Woo Commence (not displayed in this example as this is not an online shop, but if you have one that option will be visible in the menu)
Marked in the red box on the right:
- You'll see the active logged-in person
- a help menu and
- your screen options
Screen options are available for the screen you are on, but we'll get to that later.
Market in the box on the left :
This is your main menu option. As explained above there are only a few options that are really important so let's discuss them quickly
1) Plugins
Plugins are functions added to your website such as "maintenance" which gives the website the ability to put up a maintenance screen whenever it is needed.
This function does not come standard with WordPress and so a plug-in needs to be added. You can do that here.
2) Appearance
This is where you can add new website themes adjust your menu and customize your website, header, footer logo Favicon and loads more.
3) Woocommerce
This option is very important as this is your main online shop function. Here you can set your Tax as well as Shipping location and options. You can also set your shops trading commodities for example
trading in Zar or USD. Other options can also be set like your payment gateway.s
4) Products
Here you can add products, remove them, add categories and much more. It's important to understand how this function works as products and categories go hand in hand with creating your menu and how your shop will function
This option also gives you full control over your products like being able to adjust the price, add attributes like Size and colour and also adding Varients of those attributes.
